Peering Analytics & Session Monitoring
RoutePulse provides complete BGP peering intelligence encompassing session monitoring, traffic analysis, transit-only detection, and peering candidate scoring. The Sessions Manager presents a full BGP session inventory with a KPI strip showing total sessions alongside Established, Active, Idle, and Connect state counts, complemented by state filter chips and full-text search. Per-router sections feature gradient headers and ring gauges displaying the established-to-total session ratio across 48+ BGP peers spanning 5 routers: 2 core routers (Juniper MX, Huawei NetEngine) and 3 IXP routers (SwissIX, MIX-IT, MINAP).
Transit-only AS identification discovers which ASNs are reachable exclusively through transit providers rather than via IXP peering, directly informing peering strategy. The peering candidate scoring engine identifies ASNs co-located at your IXPs that could become direct peers, reducing transit costs. IXP community-based traffic attribution correctly splits SwissIX, MIX-IT, and MINAP traffic using BGP communities, with per-direction P95 billing calculated for each transit provider and IXP. The peer comparison tool allows selecting any two UP peers for side-by-side analysis of prefix coverage, common prefixes, and AS-PATH differences. Peer health monitoring tracks uptime percentages, active flaps, most unstable peer ranking, and flap event timelines. SNMP BGP state monitoring covers all vendors (Juniper, Huawei, MikroTik, and Standard MIBs), while inline-editable peer descriptions support operator notes and a Refresh Prefixes button enables on-demand prefix reloads for MikroTik IXP routers via the RouterOS API.
